Red Frog Beach – Bastimentos Island

One of the main attractions of Bocas del Toro, located on Bastimentos Island,  is the beach names after the famous Red Frog.

This beautiful red poison dart frog lives in the forest that embraces the beach.

They are very sensitive so please avoid spraying repellent while near them if possible.

Boats in Bocas Town will taking you over to the entrance of the national park path which leads to the beach for $ 8.- per person.

There is a $ 5.- fee for crossing the national park through a private property which they use to maintain the path. It is a very beautiful 15 min walk through the rainforest before you arrive at the beach. You may spot the red frog on your walk, some parrots or some white face monkeys or a sloth.

In the little pond to the right of the path, you may be lucky enough to see some small cayman hanging out in the water.

On the beach are various restaurants and bars where you can have lunch and drinks.

The beach is quite long allowing enough space to find a quiet spot under a tree away from the restaurants.

At the end of the beach is a little viewpoint where you can enjoy the ocean breeze and perhaps have another opportunity to see the red frog on the little path leading to the outlook point.

Please Be Aware – There can be a strong rip tide at certain times of the year!
